Given:

Initial velocity of body, u= 5 m/s

Acceleration of body, a=2.5 m/s²

Time taken by body, t= 4 s

To Find:

Displacement of body

Solution:

We know that,

  • According to second equation of motion for constant acceleration,

\orange{\boxed{\bf{s=ut+\dfrac{1}{2}at^{2}}}}

where,

u is initial velocity

a is acceleration

s is displacement

t is time taken

\rule{190}{1}

Let the displacement of body be 's'

On applying second equation of motion on body, we get

\longrightarrow\rm{s=ut+\dfrac{1}{2}at^{2}}

\longrightarrow\rm{s=5(4)+\dfrac{1}{2}(2.5)(4)^{2}}

\longrightarrow\rm{s=20+\dfrac{1}{2}(2.5)(16)}

\longrightarrow\rm{s=20+\dfrac{40}{2}}

\longrightarrow\rm{s=20+20}

\longrightarrow\rm\green{s=40\:m}

Hence, displacement of given body is 40 m.
