. A body of mass 0.5kg is moving with
a velocity of 6m's colloides with another
body of mass 2kg moving at 2m/s. and
travelling in opposite direchon. If the
2 bodies travel together after the collision

Answer:

m1 = 0.5 kg;    m2= 2kg;      v1=6m/s ;       v2= 2m/s;

Conservation of linear momentum:

m1v1 + m2v2 = (m1+m2)v;

v = (0.5*6+2*2)/(0.5+2)

v = 7/2.5 = 2.8m/s;

K_{I}=(m1 (v1)^{2} + m2(v2)^{2} )/2;

K_{f} = ((m1+m2)(v)^{2})/2;

ΔK = (18+8)/2 - (19.6)/2

     = 13-9.8

    =3.2 J
