a body of mass 1 kg initially at rest gives a height of 2m on to a vertical spring having force constant 490N/m . Calculate the max distance through which will be the spring compressed?​

F = -kx where F is force, k is Spring constant and x is maximum compression.

F = mg = 1 x 9.8 = 9.8 N

9.8 = -490 * x

x = 9.8/490 = 2/100 = 0.02 m
