Given

  • Mass = 1 kg
  • Initial Height = 10 m
  • Height from which we have to find all values = 10-1 = 9 m
  • Gravitational Acceleration = 10 m/

To Find

  • Kinetic Energy and the Potential Energy of the body

Solution

Kinetic Energy = ½mv²

Potential Energy = mgh

Kinetic Energy of the body :

→ Eₖ = ½mv²

  • Initial velocity would be 0 m/s at the start as the ball is initially in rest, after 1 m with an acceleration of 10 m/s² the velocity of the body would become 10 m/s

→ Eₖ = ½ × 1 × 10²

Eₖ = 50 J

Potential Energy of the body :

→ Eₚ = mgh

→ Eₚ = 1 × 10 × 9

→ Eₚ = 90 J

∴ The Kinetic Energy of the body is 50 J and the Potential Energy is 90 J
