GIVEN :

  • Mass of a body = 1 kg.
  • Initial velocity, u = 10 m/s.
  • Final velocity, v = 0 m/s.
  • Distance = 5 m.

TO FIND :

  • Force experienced by the object.

FORMULA :

  • \sf Retardation \: = \: \dfrac {(v-u)}{t}
  • \sf Force \: = \: mass \: \times \: acceleration

SOLUTION :

A body of mass 1 kg is moving with a speed of 10 m/s.

So, Object travels 10 m in 1 sec.

\implies \sf 1 m \: = \: \dfrac {1}{10} \: sec

\implies \sf 5 m \: = \: \dfrac {5}{10} \: sec

\implies \sf t \: = \: \dfrac {1}{2} \: sec

We know that,

\sf Retardation \: = \: \dfrac {(v-u)}{t}

\implies \sf \dfrac {(10-0)}{2}

\implies \sf 10 \: \times \: \dfrac {2}{1}

\sf Retardation \: = \: 20 \: m/s

Now,

\sf Force \: = \: mass \: \times \: acceleration

\implies \sf 1 \: \times \: 20

\implies \sf Force \: = \: 20 \: N

\therefore The force experienced by the body is 20 N.
