A body of mass 1 kg is thrown vertically upward from a tower of height 10 m with velocity 100m/s. Find the time taken by body to reach the ground.(g=10ms-2).

mass is not necessary here

h ( of tower ) = 10 m

u = 100 m/s

g = 10 m/s²

maximum height ( Hmax ) =u² / 2g

Hmax=100×100/20

         = 500 m

time taken => v=u+at

here ,  v = 0

therefore,

-u=-gt

minus gets cancelled...

t₁=u/g

 =100/10

  =10 sec

while falling freely,

total distance travelled = length of tower +Hmax

S=1/2gt²                    [ as u = 0 ]

510 = 1/2×10×t₂²

510 = 5t²

t₂² = 510/5

   =102

t₂ = √102

 = 10.1                      [ approx. ]

total time taken = t₁+t₂

                           =10+10.1

                           =20.1 sec
