Let  m be the mass of the bodies. Let  u be the initial velocity of the body. Conservation of linear momentum states that the momentum before and after collision remains the same.

Let  v velocity after collision of the combination.

The momentum before collision is

 mu+m(0)=mu

The momentum after collision is

 2mv

Equating the 2 momentum,

 mu=2mv\\<br />v=\frac{u}{2} \\<br />v=\frac{108}{2} \\<br />v=54

The velocity of the combination is  54\;m/s
