A body of mass 100 kg stands on a spring weighing machine inside a lift. The lift starts to
ascend with acceleration of 2.2 m s-2. What is the reading of the machine?​​

Let a be acceleration of the lift and g be gravitational acceleration.

Acceleration felt by object in lift moving upwards is -

a' = a + g

a' = 9.8 + 2.2

a' = 12 m/s^2

Reading in the weighing machine of lift be -

Reading = m × a'/a

Reading = 100 × 12 / 10

Reading = 120 kg

Therefore, weighing machine will read 120 kg.
