A body of mass 1kg moving with a velocity of 4m/ sec collides with a body of mass 0.5kg moving with a velocity of 2m/sec .If the velocity of first body after collision 8m/sec find velocity of second body after collision?

SOLUTION:

m1 u1 + m2 u2 = m1 v1 + m2 v2

(1) (4) + (0.5) (-2) = (1) (8) + (0.5) (v2)

4 - 1 = 8 + 0.5 v2

3 = 8 + 0.5 v2

3 - 8 = 0.5 v2

-5 /0.5 = v2

-10 m/s = v2
