A body of mass 2 kg moving with a velocity of 25 metre per second in east direction colloids elastically with another body of mass 3 kg moving in West direction calculate the velocities of each ball after collision

momentum conserved, hence final momentum 6 = (m1+m2)×v; v = 6/(2+3) = 1.2 m/s

 

final kinetic energy = (1/2)(m1+m2)v2 =(1/2)×5×1.2×1.2 = 3.6 kgm/s

 

loss in kinetic energy = 6-3.6 = 2.4 kgm/s
