Answer

20 Newtons.

\rule{200}2

Solution

Given :

mass of body = 20 kg.

External force on the body = 80 N

Acceleration produced = 3 m/s²

To Find

Force of friction on the body.

Let the force of friction be 'f'

From Newton's second law of motion, we know that -

\sf F_{net} = ma

Where, \sf F_{net} is the net force on the body, m is mass and a is acceleration produced in the body.

Now, the net force on the given body will be 80 - f

Now, putting the values in equation :

80 - f = 20 × 3

→ 80 - f = 60

→ f = 80 - 60

→ f = 20 N

Hence, the friction force acting on the body is 20 N.
