We need to calculate the distance compression of spring

Using formula of maximum kinetic energy

\dfrac{1}{2}mv^2=\dfrac{1}{2}kx^2

x^2=\dfrac{mv^2}{k}

Where, m = mass of body

v = velocity

k = spring constant

Put the value into the formula

x^2=\dfrac{20\times100}{5}

x=\sqrt{400}

x=20\ m

Hence, The distance compression of spring is 20 m.
