QUESTION:

  • A body of mass 20kg is moving with velocity of 30m/s and comes to rest 20 seconds. Find the acceleration and distance travelled by the body

ANSWER:

9000J IS THE ANSWER

SOLUTION:

Force =m (v−u) / t =m⋅a

displacement \:  =  \: ( {v}^{2}  -  {u}^{2} ) \div 2a

Word done (W) = Force × Displacement

 = m \times a \:(  {v}^{2}  -  {u}^{2}) \div 2a

 = 0.5m( {v}^{2}  -  {u}^{2} )

W= 1 × 20 × (2500-1600)

2

= 9000J

Therefore, the work done to attain the final velocity is 9000J
