here is your answer

1)potential energy =mgh
3×-9.8×2
58.8 j

2) potential energy =mgh
3×-9.8×6
=176.4

change in potential energy= 176.4-58.8
117.6

hope it helps

Concept:

Potential Energy is a very vast and basic concept of Physics and it helps in the sums of the Physical Newtonian Motion.

Given:

Mass of the body is

3kg

and is placed on a table whose height is

2m

and then it is moved to a table whose height is

4m

Find:

We have to Find the Change in Potential Energy.

Solution:

Applying the formula of Potential Energy,

u = mgh

taking accleration due to gravity as negative and

9.8m {s}^{ - 2}

we get the intial potential Energy as,

u = mgh \\ u = 3 \times  - 9.8 \times 2 \\ u =  - 58.8 \: joules

and the final potential Energy as

u = mgh \\ u = 3 \times  - 9.8 \times 6 \\ u =  - 176.4 \: joules

therefore the Change in Potential Energy is

final - inital =  - 176.4 + 58.8 =  - 117.6 \: joules

Hence, the Change in Potential Energy is

 - 117.6 \: joules
