A body of mass 4 kg is at rest. If 10 N force is applied for 10 s, calculate the work done by the force? ​

  • work measurs the effect(displacement) produced by effort of push/ pull act (force).
  • draw the figure as per the question requires.

Solution

\implies\rm work = force\times displacement

Given :-

  • Net force = 10
  • t = 10s
  • object initially at rest = initial velocity (u) =0

acceleration

  • F = ma = 10
  • (4) a = 10
  • a = 10 /4 =2.5 m/s²

displacement

  • s = ut +½at² = (0)10 + ½(2.5)(10)²
  • s = 0 + 2.5 × 5 ×10 = 125 m

Work done

  • W = F × s
  • W = 10 × 125
  • W = 1250 joules

so,work done by the force is 1250 J.
