A body of mass 4 kg is dropped from a height of 20 m. Calculate the initial momentum and the momentum just before it strikes the ground. (g = 10 m / s 2 )​

Mass (m) = 4 Kg

Initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s

Acceleration (a) = 10 m/s²

Distance (s) = 20 m

Initial momentum (mv):

⟹ p = 4 Kg × 0 m/s

⟹ p = 0 Kgm/s

Using third equation of motion:

⟹ v² = u² + 2as

⟹ v² = 0² + 2(10)(20)

⟹ v² = 400

⟹ v = √400

⟹ v = 20 m/s

Final momentum (mu):

⟹ p = 4 Kg × 20 m/s

⟹ p = 80 Kgm/s

∴ Initial and final momentum of the body is 0 Kgm/s and 80kgm/s respectively.
