m1v1 = m2v2

4*10 = 8 *x

40 = 8x

x = 5m/s

Given:

Mass of body A(m1)=4kg

Mass of body B(m2)=8 kg

Initial velocity of body A(u1)=0 m/s

Initial velocity of body B(u2)= 0 m/s

Final velocity of body A(v1)=10 m/s

Final velocity of body B(v2)=?

According to law of conservation of momentum,

m1u1+m2u2=m1v1+m2v2

4×0+8×0=4×10+8×v2

0+0=40+8×v2

0=40+8v2

8×v2= (-40)

v2=(-40)/8

v2=(-5m/s)

Therefore ur ans is -5m/s

Hope it helps you
