Given that

Mass of the body= 5 gm

amplitude, a=10 cm

Maximum velocity= 100 cm/sec

if a body execute S.H.M.,

Maximum velocity= a*omega        (where omega is an angular velocity of the body)

So,

Maximum velocity= a*omega= 100

omega= 100/10= 10 per sec

As we know,

v= omega*(a^2-y^2)^(1/2)

For v=50

50=10(10^2-y^2)^(1/2)

(10^2-y^2)^(1/2)=5

Squaring both sides

100-y^2=25

y^2=100-25=75

Taking square root both side, we get:

y=8.7

Therefore, the velocity of the body will be 50cm/sec at the distance of 8.7cm
