As, mass(m) = 5kg

height (h) = 30m

acceleration due to gravity(g) =

9.8m/s2

Therefore, mechanical energy= total potential energy of body at height of 30m= mgh = 5*9.8*30 = 1470Joules

As, all of the mechanical energy is changed into heat energy

Therefore, heat energy produced = 1470J

shriya1234: Yes, it's true that mechanical energy is potential energy plus kinetic energy
shriya1234: But in this case, at the height of 30m body was possessing mechanical energy only in the form of potential energy

ANSWER

SEE, MECHANICAL ENERGY = POTENTIAL ENERGY+KINETIC ENERGY

SO,

P.E= m*g*h

and, 5kg*9.8*30

potential energy= 1470joules

K.E= 1/2 *M*v^2

1/2*5*(9.8)^2

= 240.1JOULES

MECHANICAL ENERGY = 240.1+ 1470

M.E.= 1710.1

we know, mechanical energy changed into heat energy so

M.E= Heat energy

so,

Heat energy is 1710.1 joules,, Ans
