A body of mass 5 kg is placed on rough horizontal
surface. If coefficients of static and kinetic friction
are 0.5 and 0.4, then find value of force of friction
when applied horizontal external force is 15N

ANSWER

Maximum value of static friction that can

act on a body = 25N

 \large \implies \green{ \mu \: mg \:  =  \: 0.5 \times 5 \times 10 = 25N}

EXPLANATION

Since the applied force is less than the

maximum possible value of static force

therefore the force of friction will be

just enough to stop the motion of the body

Fictional force = 15N
