A body of mass 50 kg is raised to a height of 3 m. What is its potential energy? its fimula is an ideal system​

PE = mgh

= 50 x 10 x 3 = 1500 J

Since KE is zero at that height hence mechanical energy of object at 3 m height  

= 1500 J

At half the height, i.e. 1.5 m, potential energy can be calculated as follows.

PE = mgh

= 50 x 10 x 1.5 = 750 J

At this stage also the mechanical energy would be 1500  

Hence, KE = Mechanical Energy – Potential Energy  = 1500 J –750 J = 750 J
