A body of mass 5kg rests on a smooth plane inclined at angle 30° to the horizontal. What are the magnitude of the force p applied along the plane which keeps it from sliding down and the normal reaction between the plane and the body?

Answer:

The force acting on the object due to gravity for sliding down is mgsinθ which is equal to 25 N here.

Now, the component of the horizontal force F(a) along the inclined plane should be equal to 25 N. For that,

F(a)cos30° = 25

F(a) = 50/√3 N
