So we have for impulse ..it is just the change in momentum. .thus the initial momentum of the ball before hitting the wall would be P (initial)=mu, where m=mass of the ball and u=it's velocity. .and it's along positive x axis.

So the final momentum after hitting the wall and bouncing back would be P(final)=-(mu) ..it is negative because it is in the negative x-axis..

So the IMPULSE =CHANGE IN MOMENTUM

I =P(f)-P (i)

So..I =-mu-mu

I= -2mu that's it...
