The mass of the composite body is (m+m), V is considered as the speed .

its momentum will be (m+m)V

We have ,mv =(m+m)V

or V =(m/2m)v

Initial K.E=1/2mv2

Final K.E=1/4mV2

Final K.E /Initial K.E = 1/4m×V2/1/2mv2

                                   1/4m×1/2×v/1/2mv2

                                    =1/4v
