Mass of the body=m
Initial velocity=u
Final Velocity=v
Initial Momentum= mu
Final Momentum= mv
Hence change in momentum= mv-mu
change in momentum=m(v-u)
Initial velocity=u
Final Velocity=v

maybe the v was misprinted as u in my textbook I've corrected it now! thanks for you help
