A body resting on a rough horizontal plane required a pull of 27 KN inclined at 300 to the plane just to move it. It was also found that a push of 30 KN inclined at 300 to the plane just to move the body. Determine the weight of the body and coefficient of friction.

Answer:

given Ф=30°

w= weight in kN

PUSH FORCE= 30kN

Explanation:

IF We resolve the forces horizontally we will get

f=27cos30

=27*√3÷2

=23.382

now we will resolve it vertically

then,

f=μ(w-27sin30)

=μ(w-13.5)

we know that;

f=μR

23.38=μ(w-13.5)                           (1)

now consider the push condition

resolving horizontally,

f=30cos30

=25.98

when we will resolve it vertically we get

f=w+30sin30

=w+15

now,

f=μr

25.98=μ(w+15)                                                  (2)

solving these two equations we get

μ=0.091

w=270.49 N
