A body starting from rest accelerates uniformly along a straight line at rate of 10ms-2 for 5s. Then, it moves for 25s with a uniform velocity of 10ms-1. then retards uniformly and comes to rest in 10s. Draw velocity time graph and find the total distance covered by it? Also find the total distance travelled within the whole time.

Answer:

The total distance traveled within the whole time is 1625 m.

Explanation:

Given that,

Acceleration a= 10 m/s²

Time t = 5 sec

The velocity is

Using equation of motion

v = u+at

v = 0+10\times5

v = 50 m/s

Now, it moves for 25 s with a uniform velocity of 50 m/s

Using the above information we will draw velocity-time graph

Please find the attachment for the graph

According to graph,

The total distance is

D = area under the curve

D = \dfrac{1}{2}\times(OC+AB)\times AD

D = \dfrac{1}{2}\times(40+25)\times50

D = 1625\ m

Hence, The total distance traveled within the whole time is 1625 m.
