Given :-

A body starting from rest acquires a velocity of 10 m/s in 5 seconds.

To Find :-

(a) the acceleration (b) the distance covered by the body in 5 seconds.

Solution :-

We know that

a = v - u/t

a = 10 - 0/5

a = 2

Acceleration is 2 m/s²

Now

v² = u² + 2as

(10)² = (0)² + 2(2)(s)

100 = 0 + 4s

100 = 4s

100/4 = s

25 = s

Hence

Distance is 25 m

Answer

  • Acceleration = 2m/s²
  • Distance travelled by the body = 25 meters.

Given

  • A body starting from rest acquires a velocity of 10m/s in 5 seconds.

To Find

  • The acceleration of the body.
  • Distance covered by the body in 5 seconds.

Step By Step Explanation

Given a body starting from rest acquires a velocity of 10m/s in 5 seconds. We need to find the acceleration and the distance covered by the body in 5 seconds.

So let's do it !!

By using first equation of motion.

  • v = u + at

Substituting

=> 10 = 0 + a × 5

=> 10 = 5a

=> 10/5 = a

=> 2m/s² = a

Therefore, acceleration = 2m/s²

By using third equation of motion

  • v² - u² = 2as

Substituting

=> ( 10 )² - 0² = 2 × 2 × s

=> 100 = 4s

=> 100/4 = s

=> 25 m = s

Therefore, distance travelled by the body = 25 meters.
