Use second rquation of motion:

s = ut + ½at²

Given:

  • initial velocity = u = 0 (at rest)
  • acceleration = a = 0.1 m/s²
  • time = t = 5s
  • distance travelled = s = ?

Solution

  • s = ut + ½at²
  • s = 0(5) + ½ (0.1)(5)²
  • s = 0 + ½ × 0.1 × 5×5
  • s = 2.5/2
  • s = 1.25 m

distance travelled in 5s is 1.25 m
