EXPLANATION.

  • GIVEN

A body starts from rest and with a uniform

acceleration of 10 m/s^2

Time = 5 seconds.

next 10 seconds it moves with uniform velocity.

To find the total distance travelled by

the body.

according to the question,

body starts from rest = u = 0

For first 5 seconds

acceleration = 10 m/s^2

From Newton second equation of

kinematics.

S = Ut + 1/2 at^2

=> s = 0 + 1/2 X 10 X 5 X 5

=> s = 125 m

From Newton first equation of

kinematics.

v = u + at

=> v = 0 + 10 X 5

=> v = 50 m/s

For the next 10 seconds.

v = 50 m/s

t = 10 seconds

s = vt

=> s = 50 X 10

=> s = 500 m

Therefore,

Total distance travelled by the body

=> 500 + 125 = 625 m
