A body starts from rest with a uniform acceleration of 8 ms. The time in seconds taken by it to travrse the second metre of the journey is​

initial velocity u = 0, a = 8 m/s^2. s = 1 m (first meter)

So v^2 = u^2 + 2 a S

Thus v^2 = 16

==> v = 4 m/s

Now with this initial velocity body does the second meter journey

So u = 4 m/s

S = 1 m

a = 8 m/s^2

Using s = ut + 1/2 * a t^2 we have 1 = 4 t + 4t^2

Or 4 t^2 + 4 t - 1 = 0

Solving for t we get t = (- 1 + ./2)/2 = 0.414/2 = 0.207 s
