Provided that:

  • Initial velocity = 0
  • Acceleration = 2 m/s sq.
  • Time taken = 2 seconds

Don't be confused! Initial velocity cames as zero because the body starts from rest.

To calculate:

  • The distance

Solution:

  • The distance = 4 m

Using concept:

  • Second equation of motion

Using formula:

  • {\small{\underline{\boxed{\sf{s \: = ut \: + \dfrac{1}{2} \: at^2}}}}}

Required solution:

:\Rightarrow \sf s \: = ut \: + \dfrac{1}{2} \: at^2 \\ \\ :\Rightarrow \sf s \: = 0(2) + \dfrac{1}{2} \times 2(2)^{2} \\ \\ :\Rightarrow \sf s \: = 0 + \dfrac{1}{2} \times 2(2)(2) \\ \\ :\Rightarrow \sf s \: = 0 + \dfrac{1}{2} \times 2 \times 2 \times 2 \\ \\ :\Rightarrow \sf s \: = 0 + \dfrac{1}{2} \times 2 \times 4 \\ \\ :\Rightarrow \sf s \: = 0 + \dfrac{1}{2} \times 8 \\ \\ :\Rightarrow \sf s \: = 0 + 1 \times 4 \\ \\ :\Rightarrow \sf s \: = 0 + 4 \\ \\ :\Rightarrow \sf s \: = 4 \: m \\ \\ :\Rightarrow \sf Distance \: = 4 \: metres
