u = 5m/s

v = 0

a = -0.5m/s²

We have,

v = u + at

0 = 5 + (-0.5)t

0.5t = 5

t = 10 sec

GIVEN:

  • Initial velocity, u = 0.5 m/s.
  • Final velocity, v = 0.
  • Acceleration, a = 0.05 m/s^2.

TO FIND:-

  • Time will take to start.

UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT:-

According to the given question, we know the initial velocity, final velocity and acceleration. So from this we can use

v = u + at for finding the time.

ANSWER:-

v = u + at

0 = 0.5 - 0.05 x t

0.05 x t = 0.5

t = 0.5/0.05 = 10 sec.

Thus the body will take 10 seconds to stop.

SOME BASIC INFORMATION:

  • Velocity is the change in position in per unit time.
  • Acceleration is change in velocity.
