A body starts to slide over a horizontal surface with an initial velocity of 2 m/s. Due to friction, its

velocity decreases at the rate of 1 m/s. its Acceleration is 5 m/s2 Calculate the time it will take for the body

to stop?

Answer:

we know that

v = u +at

here

u = 0.5

a = -0.05 m/s2

v = 0 m/s

so, time taken to stop will be

t = -u/a = -0.5/-0.05

thus,

t = 10s

Answer:

initial velocity of 2 m/s (u)

final velocity of 1 m/s (v)

Acceleration is 5 m/s² (a)

a = v-u/t

Therefore, 5 = 1-2/t

Therefore, t = 1-2/5

Therefore, t = -1/5

Therefore, t = -O.2 second
