a body starts to slide over a horizontal surface with an initial velocity of 0.5 m/s. due to friction, it's velocity decreases at the rate of 0.05m/s square. How much time will it take for the body to stop?

it take 10 s to stop
by first eq. of motion 
v-u/a=t
v=0 u=0.5 a=-0.05
0-0.5/-0.05=t
t=10

Here, v = 0.5 m/s , u =0 m/s and a = 0.5 m/s^2( acceleration is positive because it is in the direction of external force), then we have
