COMPLETE QUESTION:-

A body start up from rest and acquires a velocity of 8m/s in 5s. Calculate

(a) the acceleration

(b) the distance covered in 5s

(c) the distance covered in 5th second.

FINAL ANSWER:-

(a)1.6m/s\\(b)20m\\(c)20m

GIVEN:-

u=0m/s

v=8m/s

t=5s

TO FIND:-

(a) the acceleration

(b) the distance covered in 5s

(c) the distance covered in 5th second.

FORMULAS USED:-

v=u+at\\v^{2}=u^{2}+2as\\s=ut+ \frac{1}{2}at^{2}

SOLUTION:-

Body starts from rest (u) = 0m/s

Than it acquires a velocity (v)=8m/s

Time taken by body (t)=5s

(a) by using v=u+at let’s find Acceleration

8=0+5*a[putting values in equation]

5a=8\\a=\frac{8}{5}\\a=1.6m/s

hence , acceleration of the body id 1.6m/s

(b) by using v^{2}=u^{2}+2as let’s find distance

8^{2}=0^{2}+2*1.6*s [← putting values in equation]

64=0+3.2s\\3.2s=64\\s=\frac{64}{3.2}\\s=20m

hence, distance travelled by body in 5 seconds is 20 meters

(c) by using s=ut+ \frac{1}{2}at^{2} let’s find distance travelled in 5th second

s=0*5+ \frac{1}{2}1.6(5)^{2} [← putting values in equation]

s=0 + \frac{1}{2} *1.6 *25\\s=20m

hence, distance travelled by body in 5th  seconds is 20 meters

Here,

v (final velocity)=8m/s\\u (initial velocity)=0m/s\\t (time taken)=5s\\a(acceleration)=1.6m/s\\s(distance)=20 meters\\
