Question:-
A body starts with an initial velocity of 20m/s and acceleration of 5m/s².Find the distance covered by it in 5s.
Solution:-
Given,
- A body starts with an initial velocity of 20m/s with an acceleration of 5m/s²It takes 5sec time then find the distance covered by the body.
Where,
- u = initial velocity
- v = final velocity
- a = acceleration
- s = distance
- t = time
We can find final velocity by using the first equation of motion:-
u = 20m/s ; a = 5m/s² ; t = 5sec ; v = ? ; s = ?
➣ v = u + at
➣ v = 20 + 5(5)
➣ v = 20 + 25
Now,
We can find distance by using the third equation of motion:-
➣ s = ut + 1/2 at²
➣ s = 20(5) + 1/2 × 5 × 5 × 5
➣ s = 100 + 5 × 5 × 2.5
➣ s = 100 + 62.5
