Given:

A body starts with initial velocity of 20 m/s and a retardation of 4 m/s².

To find:

Distance travelled before it stops?

Calculation:

Applying 3rd Equation of Kinematics:

 \sf \:  {v}^{2}  =  {u}^{2}  + 2as

  \sf\implies \:  {0}^{2}  =  {(20)}^{2}  + \{2 \times  (- 4 )\times d \}

  \sf\implies \:  0=  400   - 8d

  \sf\implies \:  8d=  400

  \sf\implies \:  d=  50 \: m

So, distance travelled is 50 metres.
