Given:

A body starts with initial velocity of 20m/s and a retardation of 4m/s².

To find:

Distance before the body stopped?

Calculation:

Applying Equation of Kinematics:

 {v}^{2} = {u}^{2} + 2as

 \implies \: {0}^{2} = {20}^{2} + 2( - 4)s

 \implies \: 0 = 400 - 8s

 \implies \: 8s = 400

 \implies \: s = 50 \: metres

So, distance travelled before stopping is 50 metres.
