A body thrown in the vertical upward direct rises up to a height h and comes back to the start

then,

(a) the total distance travelled by the body

= h+h = 2h

(b) The displacement of the body is 0

because displacement is the measure of distance from the starting pointing to the ending point ,

Hence the body Comes back at the same position , Therefore there is no displacement
