A body travelling along a straight line Traversed one third of the total distance with a velocity 4 m per second the remaining part of the distance was covered with a velocity 2 metre per second for half the time and with velocity 6 m per second for other half of the time.What is the mean velocity averaged over the whole time of motion?

Let total distance 's'
Let time coverd for first one third distance be t1t1
then t1=s/34=s12t1=s/34=s12
t2t2 be time for next two journeys
2s32s3=2t2+6t2=8t2=2t2+6t2=8t2
t2=s12t2=s12
averagevelocity=TotaldistaneTotaltimeaveragevelocity=TotaldistaneTotaltime
=st1+2t2=st1+2t2
=ss12+2s12=ss12+2s12
=4m/s=4m/s
