a body travels a distance from A to B its physical quantity is measured to be -15m/s is that speed or velocity ?give reason for the answer

albusdumbledore123: It is velocity. Because can't be negative as it's only magnitude. But velocity has its direction.

It is velocity , because velocity can be Negative positive or zero but speed cannot be negative.

# velocity is depend on displacement which can be Negative,
positive or zero.
# but speed depends on the total distance traveled which cannot be negative.

Good Question!

Ques: A body travelling a distance from A to B, its physical velocity is measured to be - 15 m/s.

Answer: In such case - 15 m/s will be. considered as velocity.

Reason: We can't take - 15 m/s speed because speed is mever negative. So, - 15 m/s is considered as velocity.

Concept: The velocity can be negative.

Hope it helps
