4) 20 m/s^-1

Given:

Distance traveled by the body (d1) = 10 meters

Velocity of the body(v1) = 10 m/sec

Distance traveled by the body (d2) = 30 meters

Velocity of the body(v2) = 30 m/sec

Formula for calculating average velocity of the body

Vav = Distance / Time

Here we are going add the Distances in the numerator and add the Distances and divide it by the velocity in the denominator:

= s1 + s2 / s1/v1 + s2/v2

Substituting the values into this formula we get:

= 10 + 30 / 10/10 + 30/30

= 40/ 1 + 1

= 40 / 2

= 20 m/s^-1

Therefore, the average velocity of the body is 20 m/s^-1
