A body travels first half of its journey with a speed of 40kmph and the next half with the speed of 60 kmph. Find the average speed of the body for the entire journey.​

Let total distance be d

Speed = distance / time

20 = d/2 / t1

t1 = d/40

30 = d/2 / t2

t2 = d / 60

Average speed = Total Distance / Total time

= ( d/2 + d/2 ) / ( t1 + t2 )

= d / ( d / 40 + d / 60 )

 d / 5d × 120 = 24 km/h
