Answer:

10 metres

Explanation:

Given :

Final velocity = v = 10 m/s (given)

Time = 2 seconds (given)

Initial velocity = u = 0 m/s ( As the body is starting from rest)

To find:

Height obtained by the body

First we need to find the acceleration in order to find the height,

acceleration \:  =  \frac{v - u}{t}

Acceleration = (10-0)/2

Acceleration = 10/2

Acceleration = 5 m/s^2

Now using the second equation of motion which says:

s = ut +  \frac{1}{2} at^{2}

Where s is the height or the Displacement,

S=0×2+1/2×5×4

S=10 metres

The height obtained by the body is 10 metres

CORRECT QUESTION :

A body travels from rest and acquire velocity of 10m/sec in 2 sec.

Hence the displacement will be?

SOLUTION :

  • The above body starts from rest. Hence it's innitial velocity is 0 m / s

  • Its final Velocity is 10 m / s

  • Time = 2 s

  • According to the first Equation of Motion -

  • a = { v - u } / T

  • Substuting the required Values -

  • a = 5 m / s ^ 2

  • According to the second Equation of Motion -

  • S = ut + ( 1 / 2 ) a t ^ 2

  • Substuting the required values -

  • S = 1 / 2 × 5 × 4 = 10 m.
