A body travels with a speed of 2 km/h for 10 minutes then with speed of 7 km/h for another 10 minutes. Find its average speed.

Average speed = Total Distance covered/ Total Time Taken

{When time taken is constant: Average speed = (x + y)/2; Where, x and y are the two speeds at which we traveled for the same time.}

Here convert the time from minutes to seconds

1minute=60seconds

10minutes=600seconds

Now convert the speeds from km/h to m/s

Speed=2km/h=2×(5/18)

= 5/9

Speed=7km/h=7×(5/18)

= 35/18

Average speed= (5/9+35/18)÷2

=1.25
