distance=circumference=2 pi r=2*22/7*14=88m
:distance travelled = 88m

and,displacement= 14+14
                         =28m

Concept:

Displacement can be defined as the shortest distance between the initial and final point.

Given:

The radius of the circular track, r = 14 m

Find:

The distance and displacement traveled by the body.

Solution:

The initial and final points are diametrically opposite, so the shortest distance will be the diameter.

The actual distance traveled is equal to half of the perimeter of the circular track.

Distance traveled, d = (1/2) 2πr

d = (1/2) 2πr

d = (1/2) 2π(14)

d = 14π m

Displacement, s = 2r

s = 2 × 14

s = 28 m

Hence, the distance traveled by the body is 14π m, and the displacement of the body is 28 m.
