A body weight 1500 N is resting on a rough horizontal plane. A pull of 300 N applied at 30° w.r.t. horizontal just moves the body. Find the coefficient of friction.​

Explanation:

normal reaction  due to weight  N = 1500 N

Total normal reaction R = N + Fsin30°

                                        = 1500 + 300 x sin30°

                                        = 1500 + 150

                                        = 1650 N

Frictional force f = μR

For just motion

Fcos30° = f

300 x cos30° = μ 1650

  μ = (150 x √3)/1650

     = √3/11

     = 1.732/11

     = 0. 157
