Explanation:

Initial Velocity (u) = ?

Time (t) = 5 seconds

Distance (s) = 10 m

Final velocity (v) = 0 m/s^2 [As it is coming to a rest]

U = v + at = 0 + 5a

=> 5a = a = u/5 ——— [To be substituted in the following equation]

S = ut - (1/2) at^2 = 5u - (1/2) (u/5) (25)

=> 10 = 5u - 5u/2

=> 10 = 5u/2 => 20 = 5u

=> u = 20/5

= 4 m/s
