Mass 0.5 kg is kept at rest ;
Therefore the velocity of center of mass is zero.
M1 = 0.2 kg
V1 = 10 m/s
M2 = 0.3 kg
V2 = ?
0 = (M1V1 + M2V2)/(M1+M2)
0 = (0.2×10) + (0.3×V2)
V2 = 2/0.3
V2 = 6.66
----------------------------------
Hence the velocity of the other part will be 6.66 m/s in the direction opposite of other mass
Therefore the velocity of center of mass is zero.
M1 = 0.2 kg
V1 = 10 m/s
M2 = 0.3 kg
V2 = ?
0 = (M1V1 + M2V2)/(M1+M2)
0 = (0.2×10) + (0.3×V2)
V2 = 2/0.3
V2 = 6.66
----------------------------------
Hence the velocity of the other part will be 6.66 m/s in the direction opposite of other mass
